Here I share my free printable monthly Catholic liturgical calendar for the month of January.

Happy New Year!

Can you believe it is already a new year? This is so exciting!

Here at Kindling Wild, we love intentionally cultivating a natural family life.

One of the ways we love to lean into our Catholic Faith and the natural rhythms of the seasons is by liturgical living. Thus I am calling this my “Kindling Liturgical Living” Calendar!

Fresh Starts

Do you know your temperament? I am a sanguine, and one of the things that means for me is that I love fresh starts.

Mondays, January, new seasons, fresh journals, heck, even a pack of new socks!

This January, it is a fresh start for your family and your homeschool. Why not commit to adding some liturgical living into you home?

If you are new here, welcome! I’m a homeschool, homebirth, homemade mom of 5 boys. Check out my about page to meet me and my family.

Catholic Liturgical Living in January

The month of January is dedicated to the Holy Name of Jesus. In the early part of January, we are still within the Christmas season. This is indicated by the golden border along the top of the dates.

Since it is a new year, why not:

  • Chalk your doorway with an Epiphany House Blessing (here’s how)
  • Choose a Patron Saint for your family for the year
  • Pick a devotion to cultivate together. We are doing the Angelus!
  • Renew your baptismal vows on the Baptism of the Lord
  • Increase in devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus (here’s my post with kid-friendly ideas!)

Selected liturgical celebrations for this month:

  • Solemnity of Mary the Mother of God
  • St Basil the Great
  • Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus
  • Epiphany of the Lord
  • Sunday of the Word of God
  • St Elizabeth Ann Seton
  • Conversion of St Paul
  • St Thomas Aquinas

Minimalist design catholic calendar

There are many other feasts and ways to celebrate in January. If I added everything, it would be too much visual clutter! That’s why I recommend that you print your copy of my liturgical calendar free download and add in any special days for your family along with anything else you plan to do.

Remember, this is about intentionality. If we went all out for every feast, we’d burn out! Pick one or two, or five, and start there.

Here is the proper for Canada from the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops off of which I based my design.

How we celebrate liturgical living in January

In January we do our Epiphany House Blessing and later in the month we bring our Bibles to be blessed on the Sunday of the Word of God.

We also have some more personal celebrations.

For example, my name is Deirdre. In Ireland, my feast day would be January 15th, the feast of St Ita.

Ita was of royal lineage. After refusing to marry, she secured her father’s permission to make vows of perpetual virginity. She founded a religious community and many miracles are attributed to her. She is also known as Deirdre, Ida, Ite, Mida.

We also have one child with a baptism anniversary in January so we light their baptism candle and pray over them.
