May liturgical living calendar for families
We at Kindling Wild are all about fully embracing our Catholic faith and living it out in the home! To help you, I make a pretty-yet-minimal calendar that connects your family to the Church year’s rhythms in simple ways.
I also have a bunch of links for you about some of the cool feast days and celebrations for May, and I’ll keep adding here as I add more resources, too!
If you are new here, welcome! I’m a homeschool, homebirth, homemade mom of 5 boys. Check out my about page to meet me and my family.

Catholic Liturgical Living in May: The Blessed Virgin Mary
The month of May is traditionally dedicated to Mary.
What a wonderful opportunity we have this month to give honour and veneration to the Mother of our Lord Jesus!
“The month of May is almost here, a month which the piety of the faithful has long dedicated to Mary, the Mother of God. Our heart rejoices at the thought of the moving tribute of faith and love which will soon be paid to the Queen of Heaven in every corner of the earth. For this is the month during which Christians, in their churches and their homes, offer the Virgin Mother more fervent and loving acts of homage and veneration; and it is the month in which a greater abundance of God’s merciful gifts comes down to us from our Mother’s throne.”
Pope Paul VI, Mense Maio
That’s why I made Mary the main image for this month.

Selected liturgical celebrations for this month:
There are many wonderful feast days in the Roman Catholic Church during the month of May.
May and the season of Easter, Pentecost, and entering into Ordinary time offers us many feast days and ways to celebrate, but including everything can be too much! It would be better to pick 1-2 activities and enjoy them, than to do too much and be overwhelmed. And remember, attending Mass is always an amazing way to celebrate and requires no extra planning.
Here are some ideas of how you can celebrate in May:
- St Joseph the Worker
- St Joseph episode on Saints Alive
- St Athanasius
- St Philip and St James
- St Matthias
- Our Lady of Fatima
- Watch The Day the Sun Danced on FORMED
- Watch the movie Fatima (2020)
- Read Jacinta’s Story
- Listen to Saints Alive episode on OL of Fatima
- St Philip Neri
- Saints Alive podcast episode
- St Joan of Arc
- podcast episode
- Ascension
- Ascension YouTube video
- Pentecost
