In this post you will find my The Gift of the Holy Rosary colouring page greeting card for kids. Just print, PRAY, colour and give!

October is the month of the Holy Rosary!

October is one of my favourite months. Yes, I am all about the pumpkin patch and cozy socks, but also, it is a month set aside for one of my favourite prayers, the Rosary!

It can be challenging to help kids focus and stay still during an entire 5 decades. For that reason I decided to design a rosary colouring page for kids to pray along with and give to a family member or friend they are praying for!

What is the rosary?

Rosary is a word that comes to us from Latin. It means a garland of roses. How lovely is that? The rose is a symbol of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

In honour of this month, I made a spiritual bouquet card printable of the Holy Rosary for kids to colour and give to someone who needs prayers.

Saints prayed the rosary

In fact, many of them feel really strongly about this set of prayers! St Louis de Montfort said,

“Never will anyone who says his Rosary every day be led astray. This is a statement that I would gladly sign with my blood.”
Saint Louis de Montfort

Our Lady herself said to Sister Lucia, “Continue to pray the Rosary every day.”

And Saint Francis de Sales went even further when he said

“The greatest method of praying is to pray the Rosary.”
Saint Francis de Sales

If it is good enough for the saints, it is good enough for me!

Perfect Greeting Card to send as a Gift

Everyone loves a bouquet, but have you ever heard of a spiritual bouquet?

A spiritual bouquet is a beautiful Catholic tradition that makes a great gift at any time. It is the offering of prayers and or sacrifices to another as a gift.

Generally, the giver will disclose the prayers in the form of a card of some kind, hence my creation of this colouring page style greeting card!

What age of Child can do this?

This activity can be done even by the littlest souls. The rosary is a simple prayer repeated over and over. If the child is too young to pray the words, he or she can listen during the family rosary or an audio rosary. I like to use the Hallow app to pray in the car.

I designed this card to appeal to young kids, but older kids and adults can enjoy this too.

What occasion is appropriate for a rosary colouring card?

The gift of prayer is wonderful for any occasion. Some times that would be specifically appropriate to give this card are:

  • Birthdays
  • Baptisms
  • Illness or loss
  • First Holy Communion
  • Wedding gift
  • Mother’s or Father’s day
  • Anniversaries, including your priest’s anniversary
  • A special feast day
  • Thinking of you
  • Just because / something to send in the mail for fun!

Reasons to do a spiritual bouquet with your kids

  • A great way to practice praying the rosary
  • Helps children feel intentional about their prayers
  • It is one of the Spiritual Works of Mercy
  • Could be a tool of evangelization!

Intentionality in raising rosary prayer warriors

The Bible tells us we need to pray AT ALL TIMES.

By all prayer and supplication praying at all times in the spirit; and in the same watching with all instance and supplication for all the saints:

Ephesians 6:18
Douay-Rheims Bible

But that can be hard to do! I mentioned above that I love to play the rosary on the Hallow app every day to help me pray at all times. But it is also important to model sitting to pray and meditate on the mysteries of the rosary with our kids. So we also try to make a point to pray at certain times and teach our children about this prayer with intentionality so that they are equipped to grow in faith and love. This is where this rosary colouring for kids can come in handy!
